Now that the weather is getting chilly, it's time to break out the gourds and squashes. And this doesn't just apply to the grownups- your baby should be reaping the benefits of this tasty produce too! Here's a yummy and easy recipe for butternut squash baby food to make your fall season cooking even simpler.

Ingredients:

1 Butternut Squash
Baking Dish
Food Processor
A Little Water

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Rinse the squash to remove any dirt, then cut it in half lengthwise and put it cut side down onto the baking dish. Adding a tiny bit of water to the bottom of the pan helps prevent sticking. Use tin foil to cover the baking dish and bake it in the oven for 45 minutes.

When it's done baking, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool. Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, remove the soft flesh (minus the seeds). Place it in a food processor or blender along with around half a cup of water, then puree it. Breast milk or formula can be used in addition to or instead of the water if desired. You can play with the amounts to get the consistency you want.

When it's done, you can serve it immediately, put it in the fridge, or freeze it for later use. You might be tempted to eat some of it yourself, it's that tasty and healthy!
