Veggies and fruits are some of the first foods your babies will eat; at least, the pureed kind. Although they'll need milk or formula as their main nutrition source until they're a year old, it's beneficial to also add pureed produce as well. It's a good way to help them learn how to chew and swallow, how to eat from a spoon, how to feed themselves, and so on.
If you're ready to try your hand at making homemade baby food, here's a great recipe to try!
Pureed Peach Baby Food
You'll need:
Peaches, 6
Hand held peeler
Blender or food processor
Mid-sized or small pot with a steamer basket
Water
How to make it:
Peel and dice the peaches. Fill the pot with water until it reaches just below the steamer basket. Add peaches. Bring the water and peaches slowly to a low boil, let them steam for 15 minutes. If they're large peaches, they may need a bit more time. The peaches will be ready when you can easily stab them with a fork.
Once they're cooked, you can puree them in your blender or food processor. Serve once it's cooled off enough to eat, then refridgerate or freeze the rest of it for later. If you refrigerate it, make sure it gets eaten within the next couple days. It can last for a few months in the freezer.
